After my work on 360 Tracking, I was assigned another project involving maps. With a team of eight web developers, a dev manager, and a product owner, we built a brand new app that is used daily by hundreds of fleet managers and capacity coordinators at J.B. Hunt. All in all, this project resulted in 200+ screens, about 10+ user testing sessions, weekly design reviews with users, developers, and product owners. It has changed a lot over the past five years, but the functionality remains mostly the same..

Before we built Empty Planner, our Fleet Managers and Capacity Coordinators would have to call trailer yards, and fill out forms manually or online in our legacy system in order to find new empty trailers and containers for drivers needing to hook up and drive on to pick up their next load. Our app enabled them to find trailers virtually with maps, and with a couple of clicks, assign trailers to drivers. This process use to take between 2 - 20 minuted per user each day. So at a company with 24/7 shifts, Empty Planer saves J.B. Hunt at least 219,000 man hours each year.
